HOW TO BUY THIS BOOK
Dr. U R Ananthamurthy writes: '....I have read many young bright poets in their teens who write brilliantly but not as truthfully as Fousiya Yoonus does. What is remarkable in Fousiya is her transparency and her awareness of the special problems of her age. She is genuine and also extremely talented.....'
EXCERPTS...
The Sea of Tears
As the broad expanse beckons,
Plunged in a murky flush of sombre hues
The clear, cool waters surged forward,
Churned and splashed as it tore past.
The sun-drenched horizon
Does flood the sand-strewn beaches
With a ghastly glow,
Yet, as I stare at the undulating stretch
Loneliness triumphed in a dead whisper.
For, once these very shores beheld
The myriad dreams that life endeared,
Yet, as my feet bore into the burning sand,
It brought a rapture, a far off cry.
The hallways of history,
The ruins of fate and dread
Did bear witness to that mournful tread
As the wild waters, exalted as high-
As the dull gray sky
Swishing past in a fleeting moment,
Drowning the feeble cries,
Leaving the coast silent.
The silence of despair, of rage, of fear-
Or was that the surge of the silence of-
Lasting valour, burning hope and memories dear
Perished in the altars of destiny-
Did fate triumph or did the human heart
That doth behold and yet endures
As the sea now turns to a ruby red,
And blends in its salty splurge the tears run,
Or is it that divine power that watches over us,
That did bring this melancholy clamour,
Yet, unknown to the eye of mortals
Remains the spirit that houses Nature.
