Pappaya Koottu Curry

ingredients
1. pappaya cut into 1 inch long thick slices-350 gm
2. bengal gram or tur dhal- 1/2 cup
3. coconut grated- 1 1/2 cup
4. turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
5. green chilly-3
6. small red onion-5
7. cumin seeds-1/4 tsp
8. salt to taste
9. curry leaves-2 stalks
method
Cook dhal with turmeric powder and salt and keep aside. Cook Pappaya pieces with water sufficent to cook. Cover and cook.When the pappaya pieces are nearly done add cooked dhal and curry leaves. Meanwhile grind 1 cup of coconut with green chillies, small onion, and cumin seeds to a fine paste. Place this paste in the pappaya and dhal . Cover and cook again. When the gravy is fairly thick remove. Fry half cup of grated coconut till brown. Add this to the curry, mix well and serve hot.
