Blessy

BlessyBlessy invaded the hearts and minds of Malayali movie lovers with just two films: Kazhcha and Thanmatra. Both the films won the applause of the critics as well as the common people. Blessy won the Kerala State Film Award 2005 for Best Director and Best Script writer for the film Thanmathra, which also won 3 other awards including Best Actor for Mohanlal, Best Film and a special mention for a child artist Arjun Lal.

Kazcha: Mammootty, Yash

Blessy loved films from his school days. He used to watch one or two movies every week. Later he joined Sudarsa Film Society, Thiruvalla. The film society movement helped him a lot in gaining an insight into the aesthetics of cinema. Then he spent years working as assistant to the late film director Padmarajan and learnt a lot during that period. Those were the years that shaped his concept of cinema.

The time has not come to say that Blessy is the true / right desciple of the great Padmarajan. The poetic touch of padmarajan or Bharathan will not come to people just like that. It needs some inborn talent. Blessy is comparatively better rather say promising cosidering the present line of directors in Malayalam movies. Regarding Blessy's movies, Kazcha is far superior (in all respects ) to Thanmatra. Thanmatra is more or less like an intelectual excercise by Blessy. We can say its an intelegently fabricated movie with all commercial mixes. Its true that the movie, Thanmatra declares that the art of movie is ''really an art of the Director''. One of the reason of this movie to attract people is the '' over acting '' of Mohanlal. And our people always like over acting. Blessy has utilised this weakness of people very well in this movie.

'Mookkillavarude Rajyathu, Murikookkan Rajavu', is this the true measurement of Intellegence. When the sensibility of the people are below average, a person who make something average may be treated as brilliant in that society. I do not see any such impeccable film makers in Kerala this days.
