Vinodayathra, the new Sathyan Anthikkad movie, revolves around the family of Shaji Raghavan and his brother-in-law Vinod. Mukesh plays the role of Shaji and Dileep palys Vinod. Others in the cast include Meera Jasmine, Seetha, Murali, Nedumudi Venu, Vijayaraghavan, Innocent, Mamukoya, KPAC Lalitha, Sreelatha, Ganapathy and Parvathy. Songs penned by Vayalar Sharath Chandra Varma are set to music by Ilaiyaraja. S. Kumar cranks the camera.
WHAT'S IT
ജീവിതത്തെ ആകെ വിനോദമായി കാണുന്ന വിനോദാണ് നായകന്. ഒരു കാര്യത്തിലും പക്വതയും കാര്യപ്രാപ്തിയും പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കാത്ത വിനോദിനെ അച്ഛന് മകളുടെ വീട്ടിലേയ്ക്കയക്കുന്നു. അവിടെയും സ്ഥിരം ഉഴപ്പ് പരിപാടിയുമായി നടന്നെങ്കിലും യാദൃശ്ചികമായി ഒരു പെണ്കുട്ടിയെ പരിചയപ്പെടുന്നു. ദുരിതങ്ങളെ വെല്ലുവിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ജീവിക്കുന്ന ആ പെണ്കുട്ടിയില് നിന്ന് വിനോദ് ജീവിതപാഠങ്ങള് ഒന്നൊന്നായി പഠിച്ചെടുക്കുന്നു.

തികഞ്ഞ സത്യന് അന്തിക്കാട് സിനിമ; ആര്ക്കും ഇഷ്ടം തോന്നുന്ന ഒരു കൂട്ടം നല്ല കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളും സത്യന്സിനിമകളില് സാധാരണ കാണാറുള്ള തമാശകളും. സമകാലീനജീവിതത്തില് നിന്ന് പറിച്ചെടുത്ത ഏടുകള് സിനിമയ്ക്കു ചേരുന്ന വിധത്തില് സംയോജിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. മീരാ ജാസ്മിനും മുകേഷും ഇന്നസെന്റും നെടുമുടി വേണുവും മുരളിയുമെല്ലാം പതിവു പോലെ മികച്ച പ്രകടനം കാഴ്ച വച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ദിലീപും നന്നായിരിക്കുന്നു. കേള്ക്കെ കേള്ക്കെ ഇഷ്ടം തോന്നുന്ന പാട്ടുകളുമുണ്ട്. ഗണപതി എന്ന കഥാപാത്രത്തെ അവതരിപ്പിച്ച ബാലതാരവും (അതും ഗണപതി തന്നെ!) ഓര്മിക്കപ്പെടും.
MINUSES
സത്യന് അന്തിക്കാടിന്റെ തന്നെ മറ്റു സിനിമകളിലെ കഥയുടെയും കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളുടെയും ഒരു മിക്സ് എന്നു തോന്നും വിനോദയാത്ര. സിനിമാറ്റിക് എന്നു പറയാവുന്ന ക്ലൈമാക്സൊന്നും കഥയിലില്ല. ഇത്ര ലളിതസുന്ദരമോ ജീവിതം എന്നു ചിലര്ക്കെങ്കിലും അദ്ഭുതം തോന്നിയേക്കാം.
VERDICT
സത്യന് അന്തിക്കാടിന്റെ തന്നെ മറ്റു സിനിമകള് അടുത്ത കാലത്തൊന്നും കാണാത്തവരാണെങ്കില് വിനോദയാത്ര ശരിക്കും വിനോദിപ്പിക്കും.

I just watched the movie...The review definitely matches with an average viewer like me.Nothing special ,but definitely a good movie with a good message.Except Satyan nobody else have guts to make simple movies anymore.
വിഷുവിനിറങ്ങിയ സിനിമകളില് വെറുപ്പിക്കാത്ത ഒരേയൊരെണ്ണം ‘വിനോദയാത്ര’ മാത്രമാണ്. ഇത്തിരി ആവര്ത്തനങ്ങളും പഴയ ചില സിനിമകളുടെ ഗന്ധവും ഉണ്ടെങ്കിലും, രണ്ടര മണിക്കൂര് സമാധാനമായി കണ്ടിരിക്കാം. രസിക്കാം. ബാക്കിയെല്ലാ സിനിമയും നമ്മുടെ കഥ കഴിക്കും; പല വിധത്തിലാണെന്നു മാത്രം. ജാഗ്രതൈ!!
വിനോദ യാത്രയില് എന്നെ ആകര്ഷിച്ചതു മുകേഷിന്റെ മിതത്വവും,ക്രത്യവുമായ അഭിനയമാണു...നല്ല വേഷങ്ങള് ലഭിച്ചാല് അവിസ്മരണീയമാക്കാനുള്ള പ്രതിഭ തനിക്കുണ്ടെന്നു മുകേഷ് ഒരിക്കല്ക്കൂടി തെളിയിച്ചു...ഷബീര് അലി
Another new Malayalam movie release here in US. Watching Vinodayathra from Fun Asia theater in Dallas this weekend was fun. Though it does not meet the earlier standards of Sathyan Anthikkad movies, it surely was entertaining and to some extend thought provoking. Sathyan throws pieces of all prevalent social issues in Kerala with an incredible humor sense. I liked Dileep in his innocent irresponsible youth who is trying to avoid the bigger responsibilities of life. Like most of us, until there is a compelling reason, we tend to live the easy life trying to turn a blind eye on issues we face daily, while discussing in detail about Iraq war and Bush Administration. Mukesh reminds us of his role in Godfather genre movies. Meera Jasmine is at her best always, but this particular role looked so repetitive.
