Time, the new Shaji Kailas movie written by Rajesh Jayaraman, tells the story of Appan Menon, a brilliant but slightly eccentric IPS officer. Suresh Gopi plays the roles of Appan Menon and his father Viswanathan Menon. Heroines are Vimala Raman and Padmapriya. Others in the cast include Manoj K. Jayan, Siddique, P. Srikumar, Vijayakumar, Keerikkadan Jose, TP Madhavan, Baburaj, and Kollam Thulasi. Camera is by Rajaratnam. Lyrics by Girish Puthencherry are set to music by Rahul Raj.
WHAT'S IT
ദുര്ബലമാണ് ടൈമിന്റെ കഥാതന്തു. ഒരു പതിവ് സുരേഷ് ഗോപിക്കഥയുടെ ചട്ടക്കൂടില് തന്നെ ടൈമും നില്ക്കുന്നത്. ഒരു മുന്മന്ത്രിയുടെ കൊലപാതകം അന്വേഷിക്കാന് അപ്പന് മേനോന് എന്ന പൊലീസ് ഓഫിസര് എത്തുന്നു. വീണ്ടും കൊലപാതകങ്ങള് തുടരുന്നു. ഇതിനിടെ നായകന് വില്ലനാകുന്നു.
PLUSES
രാജരത്തിനത്തിന്റെ ക്യാമറ കാട്ടിത്തരുന്ന കാഴ്ചകള് നന്നായിട്ടുണ്ട്. അലക്സാണ്ടര് എന്ന പൊലിസ് ഓഫീസറുടെ വേഷത്തില് സിദ്ദിഖ് തിളങ്ങുന്നു. പദ്മപ്രിയയുടെ സൂസന് മേരി തോമസും നിരാശപ്പെടുത്തില്ല. സുരേഷ് ഗോപിയുടെ മകന്കഥാപാത്രം പതിവുപോലെ ‘ശക്തം.’ (എന്നാലും കണ്ടു കണ്ടു മടുത്തു ഈ വേഷമെന്നു തോന്നുന്നവരും കാണും.)
MINUSES
ചിന്താമണി കൊലക്കേസ് എന്ന ഷാജി കൈലാസിന്റെ തന്നെ ചിത്രം ഓര്മയില് വന്നുകൊണ്ടേയിരിക്കും ടൈം കാണുമ്പോള്. രണ്ടാം പകുതിയില് സസ്പെന്സ് നിലനിര്ത്താനാവാത്തത് രസം കൊല്ലുന്നുണ്ട്. ഒരു കാര്യവുമില്ലാതെ അവസാനം ഒരു വില്ലന് പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെടുന്നതും ന്യായീകരിക്കാന് പറ്റാത്തതാണ്. വയലന്സിന്റെ അതിപ്രസരം.
VERDICT
ചിന്താമണി കൊലക്കേസ് ഒന്നു കൂടി കണ്ടാല് ഇതിലും രസിക്കും.
