Heartbeats, scripted by Babu Janardanan and directed by Vinu Anand, takes us to a self-financing medical college campus, which is ruled over by a gang of four rich students. They are played by Indrajith, Manikuttan, Anoop Chandran and Arun V Narayan. The heroine is Simran. Others in the cast include Govindankutty, Manasa, Jagathy Sreekumar, Biju Menon, Cochin Haneefa, Venu Nagavally, Urmila Unni and T.P.Madhavan. Story is written by the producer Joly Joseph. Songs by Gireesh Puthencherry are set to tune by George Peter. Jibu Jacob cranks the camera.
WHAT'S IT
മെഡിക്കല് കോളജ് ക്യാംപസിന്റെ പശ്ചാത്തലത്തിലാണ് കഥ നടക്കുന്നത്. പാവപ്പെട്ട വിദ്യാര്ഥികളെ കോളജില് നിന്നു തുരത്തി കോളജ് മാനേജ്മെന്റിന് സീറ്റ് കച്ചവടം നടത്താന് കൂട്ടു നില്ക്കുന്ന ഒരു വിദ്യാര്ഥിസംഘമുണ്ട് അവിടെ. ഇവരുടെ കള്ളക്കളികള് അറിയാമായിരുന്ന ഹരിതയുടെ ആത്മഹത്യാശ്രമമാണ് കഥയുടെ ഒരു വഴിത്തിരിവ്. ഈ കേസ് അന്വേഷിക്കാന് പൊലീസ് ഓഫീസറായ ബഷീര് അഹമ്മദ് എത്തുന്നു. അന്വേഷണം പുതിയ കഥകളിലേക്ക് വെളിച്ചം വീശുന്നു. സ്വാശ്രയകോളജ് പ്രശ്നത്തില് നിന്നും എച്ച്. ഐ. വി. എന്ന മാരകരോഗത്തിന്റെ ദുരനുഭവങ്ങളിലേക്ക് കഥ സഞ്ചരിക്കുകയാണ്.
PLUSES
സിമ്രാന് ഏറെക്കാലത്തിനു ശേഷം വള്ളിത്തിരയിലെത്തുന്നു എന്നതാണ് ഈ ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ ഏക സവിശേഷത. മെഡിക്കല് കോളജിന്റെ പശ്ചാത്തലത്തില് യുവ താരങ്ങള്ക്ക് പുതുമയുള്ള കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളെ നല്കി എന്നതും ശ്രദ്ധേയമായി.
MINUSES
പ്രേക്ഷകനെ കണ്ടിരിക്കാന് പ്രേരിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഒന്നും ഇതിലില്ല. കഥയ്ക്ക് ഫോക്കസ് ഇല്ല ( പല വഴിയിലൂടെയും അതു കാടു കയറി പോകുന്നു), തിരക്കഥയ്ക്ക് ജീവനില്ല. സംവിധായകനെ കാണാനേയില്ല! പല സീനുകളും സീരിയല്നാടകങ്ങളുടെ അറുബോറന് രംഗങ്ങളെ ഓര്മിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
VERDICT
മലയാളസിനിമയുടെ ‘ഹൃദയമിടിപ്പ് ’ ഇല്ലാതാക്കാന് ഇത്തരം സിനിമകള്ക്ക് കഴിയും.

A very boring movie. The only thing which is to be appreciated is Manikkuttan's acting. Simran also is nice. Manasa is hopeless. The story is bad. So, please don't see it. It will be resulted in loss of your precious money and time.
