ലോകപ്രശസ്ത ജാസ് ഡ്രമ്മറാണ് ചന്ദ്രമൌലി. ലോകം മുഴുവന് ആണ്-പെണ് സൌഹൃദങ്ങളുള്ള മൌലിക്ക് പ്രേമത്തിലോ വിവാഹത്തിലോ വിശ്വാസമില്ല. എന്നാല്, ചെന്നൈയില് സുഹൃത്ത് ഗുണയുടെ റെക്കൊഡിങ് സ്റ്റുഡിയോയില് എത്തുന്ന മൌലിയെ പ്രണയം പുതിയ വിശ്വാസങ്ങളിലേക്ക് നയിക്കുന്നു. പുതുമുഖഗായിക ദയ ആണ് മൌലിയെ കുടുക്കിയത്. തന്റെ പ്രണയം അറിയിക്കാന് ഉയിരും ഉണര്വും ചേര്ത്ത് തയാറാക്കിയ മൌലി ഒരു ഗാനം തയാറാക്കുന്നു. അതു കേള്പ്പിക്കാന് ദയയെ അവളുടെ വിവാഹനിശ്ചയ പന്തലില് നിന്ന് മൌലി വിളിച്ചു കൊണ്ടു വരുന്നു. അതു മൌലിയെ വിവാഹമെന്ന ‘ദുരന്ത’ത്തിലേക്ക് അടുപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

നന്നായി ചിത്രീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ട സിനിമാറ്റിക് ആയ ഒരു സിനിമ. ജഗതി, മോഹന്ലാല്, മുകേഷ്, ഹരിശ്രീ അശോകന് തുടങ്ങിയവരുടെ രസികന് തമാശകളുണ്ട്. പുതുമ നിറഞ്ഞ അന്തരീക്ഷവും സംഗീതവും പ്രേക്ഷകരെ ഹരം കൊള്ളിക്കും. മോഹന്ലാലിന്റെ രൂപഭാവങ്ങളിലെ വ്യത്യാസവും കൌതുകകരമാണ്. മൌലിയും ചെന്നൈയിലെ സംഗീതസുഹൃത്തുക്കളുമായുള്ള ബന്ധം ഹൃദ്യമായ രീതിയില് ചിത്രീകരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. പുതിയ ലോകത്ത്, ആണ്-പെണ് ബന്ധത്തിന്റെ മാറിയ തലം മോഹന്ലാലിന്റെയും ശ്വേതയുടെയും കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളുടെ ബന്ധത്തില് കാണാം. പ്രതിനായകഭാവത്തില് അനൂപ് തിളങ്ങി.

ബോറടിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഒന്നിലധികം സന്ദര്ഭങ്ങളുണ്ട്. മോഹന്ലാല് കണ്ണാടിയില് നോക്കി പ്രണയരഹസ്യം പറയുന്നതും മറ്റും ആനബോറാണ്. മൊത്തത്തില് ഓളമുള്ള സിനിമയ്ക്ക് പറ്റിയ ഒരു കഥ ഇല്ലാതെ പോയി. ഈ ‘ദാരിദ്ര്യം’ ക്ലൈമാക്സിലെ കഥാസന്ദര്ഭത്തിലും കാണാം.

എന്റീശ്വരാ... ഞങ്ങള് കണ്ട റോക്ക് ന്’ റോളല്ലേ ഇന്ദുലേഖ കണ്ടത്!!! ഏതായാലും 6/10 ഇതിനു മുന്പ് കിട്ടിയ സിനിമകളോട് ചെയ്ത അനീതിയായിപ്പോയി ഇത്! :)

വിഷമിക്കേണ്ട; ഇന്നസെന്റിനെ പറഞ്ഞുവിട്ടു! അഭിനയിക്കാനുള്ള കൊതി കൊണ്ട് മൂപ്പര് സ്വയം കയറി അവിടെ ഇരുന്നതാകാനാണ് സാധ്യത :)

6 out of 10 for this stupid movie....This is probably the worst Ranjith movie and do not even deserve a pass mark.I am a big fan of Lalettan but can not digest his charecter or the presentation.The movie is below average and not even getting houseful boards even the first weekend.

I had some respect to the reviewer until I read this review...This movie is pathetic ....Old wine in new bottle from Renjith.When I watched the movie yesterday ,the theatre was only 20% full whereas Sharukh's OSO is running with 80% collections in the same complex.When malayali directors go out of the typical masala movies?

what suma kurup of indulekha.com says is absolutely right. rock n' roll is not a boring movie. it is really cinematic and rhythmic. and it's worth watching. still, it has not become a crowd-puller. why?
reason 1: mad lal fans may not like this movie, as they can not find the so-called 'super action' in this movie. mouli of lal is not a 'super man' they love to watch.
reason 2: it lacks a strong story.
still, i would like to say once again rock n' roll is not as boring as you all say.

ഹൊ, എന്തൊരു തണുപ്പന് സിനിമ; കഥയില്ല, കാര്യവുമില്ല. അതു പോട്ടെ, പിടിച്ചിരുത്തുന്ന ഒരു സീന് പോലുമില്ല. മൌലി (ലാല്) വെറുതെ വര്ത്തമാനം പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയാണ് ഇതില് ഉടനീളം. ആരെയും കിട്ടിയില്ലെങ്കില് ആശാന് സ്വയം സംസാരിച്ചുകളയും. മോഹന്ലാലിന്റെ പ്രായവും രൂപവും ഈ കഥാപാത്രത്തെ ഒട്ടും സപ്പോര്ട്ട് ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല എന്ന് ഓരോ ക്ലോസ് അപ് ഷോട്ടും ഓര്മപ്പെടുത്തി. (ലാല് ഇപ്പോള് ഒരു ചെറുപ്പക്കാരനേയല്ലെന്ന് ലാലിനും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സംവിധായകര്ക്കും മനസ്സിലാക്കാന് ഇനി എത്ര പതിറ്റാണ്ടുകള് കൂടി കാത്തിരിക്കേണ്ടി വരും!!)
ഇന്ദുലേഖ 5-നു മേല് റാങ്ക് ചെയ്താല് ബോറന് സിനിമ ആയിരിക്കില്ല എന്നതാണ് എന്റെ അനുഭവം. എന്നാല്, റോക്ക് N’റോളിന്റെ കാര്യത്തില് അതു തെറ്റുക തന്നെ ചെയ്തു. (മര്യാദയ്ക്ക് റിവ്യു ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്ന ഈ സുമയ്ക്ക് ഇതെന്തു പറ്റി?)

സുമ പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന അവസാന വാചകം തന്നെയാണു എന്റെയും റിവ്യൂ..കഥയെകറിച്ച് ആലോചിക്കാതെ ഇരുന്നാല് ഇതൊരു പക്കാ എന്റര്ടൈനര് തന്നെയാണു.
പിന്നെ ഒരു മൈനസ് പോയിന്റായി എനിക്കു തോന്നിയതു,സംഗീതത്തിനു പ്രധാന്യമുള്ള ഒരു തീം ആയിട്ടു കൂടി ഗാനങ്ങള് ആ നിലവാരം പുലര്ത്തുന്നില്ല.
