Opens ‘M T Vasudevan Nair Book fest’ on Indulekha Portal. It is the first ever online exhibition of the complete works of an Indian author.

indulekha.com is an interactive portal for fans of the written word. It was her stint as editor of the website of a Malayalam daily that brought Swapna Tom Mangatt close to a bunch of book lovers, most of who were non-resident Keralites. “They always asked for my suggestions on the newly released titles and I really enjoyed doing so,” says Swapna. It was during the search for a permanent online space for her book-loving friends that she decided to quit her job and start an internet portal indulekha.com early this year.

Indulekha enters the prestigious Limca Book of Records, for the online book fest of M T Vasudevan Nair. According to Limca Book of Records, it was “the first online show of all the books of a writer”.

ഇന്ദുലേഖയ്ക്ക് ഒരു വയസ്സു തികയുമ്പോൾ 107 രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നു സന്ദർശകരുള്ള, മാസം രണ്ടു ലക്ഷത്തിനടുത്ത് ഇന്റർനെറ്റ് ഉപയോക്താക്കൾ കാണുന്ന വെബ് പേജായി അതു മാറിക്കഴിഞ്ഞു. വെബ്സൈറ്റുകളെ വിലയിരുത്തുന്ന ‘അലക്സ’ സൈറ്റിന്റെ കണക്കനുസരിച്ച്, ‘ഇന്ദുലേഖ’യുടെ റാങ്ക് മലയാളത്തിലെ വാർത്തേതര സൈറ്റുകളിൽ ഏറ്റവും മികച്ചതാണ്. ‘ഇന്ദുലേഖ’യിലെ ടോപ് ടെൻ പുസ്തക, സിനിമാ പട്ടികകളാണ് ‘കലാകൗമുദി’യും ‘ചിത്രഭൂമി’യും പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കാറ്. ഇന്ദുലേഖ ഡോട്ട് കോം ഒറ്റ വർഷം കൊണ്ട് മലയാളത്തിന്റെ ഓൺലൈൻ ഉത്സവമായി മാറി.

2008 January 22
K Karunakaran, former Chief Minister of Kerala, inaugurates India’s first online cartoon exhibition on indulekha.com – ‘Varayum Chiriyum’ by TK Sujith – organised by Indulekha in association with Kerala Kaumudi. The show was inaugurated at VJT Hall, Thiruvananthapuram with K Karunakaran drawing a caricature of Bishop Joseph Mar Thomas who was present at the opening.
2009 January 1
Indulekha again enters Limca Book of Records for the second time, along with T K Sujith. It was for ‘Varayum Chiriyum’, first ever online cartoon exhibition in India.
2010 August 19
Launches the first cross-publisher online store for Malayalam books at indulekha.biz, which later shifted to the portal indulekha.com.
2014 January 1
Indulekha launches ‘Book Solutions’, the self-publishing service. The first book is ‘Thacholi Ambadi’ by K Radhakrishnan, published in January 2014.
2015 December 25
Indulekha Books, the publishing division, gets launched. Venturing into publishing, ‘Koott’ written by Bobby Jose Kattikadu and edited by Tom J Mangatt is the first book under the imprint ‘Indulekha Pusthakam’. This imprint publishes only must-reads in Malayalam.
2016 March 1
Launches ‘Tamara’, an imprint for good reads. First book is ‘Novelinte Charitrabhoopadangal’ by Shaji Jacob.
